Episode twelve: Heart Of Gold

The episode begins at a lone ranch style whorehouse. In the scene a group of men threaten the whores to be prepared to hand over the baby of one of the men once the whore mother gives birth.

The head whore Nandi contacts Inara on Serenity and askes for help. Despite Inara offering money, Mal decides to take the mission for free and sets the ship on the way to the planet. Once there, they set up a defense. In the meantime, Mal and Jayne become well acquainted with the women!

In the ensueing battle, Nandi dies and the father is killed but the day is saved. Afterwards, however, Inara decides to leave Serenity upon reflecting on what had happened.
