The Character

Played by Sean Maher, Simon is the doctor for Serenity.

In return for keeping himself and River on the ship, Simon agrees to become the doctor for the crew. As a former surgeon with great success, he definitly fills the role appropriately.

Simon has broken the law to rescue his sister River from some dodgey members of the Alliance. Hoping to find out what is wrong with her mental state and help her he offers the captain both opportunities and hinderances in his quest.

Simon is often overly concerned with River which is probably due to regret for allowing her to be abused as she has been.
