Remember my Roguelike? Well it got pretty far in, then I lost the old laptop. The project languished until recently when I decided to revisit it.

...Except it turns out my backups had empty folders where the game files should have been. Not to worry, being experienced in IT Support I fully anticipated this eventuality. I have backups of the backups.

...And it turns out they were empty too. Data integrity how are you.

All was not lost however. I did manage to unearth a very early prototype from before I rewrote the code in a more optimised format. It's useless as a starting point but it's enough to remind me of what I wrote as I start again.

And what's the lesson? Say it with me ITists

You never have enough backups.

I think even if you had backups 'all the way down', you still wouldn't have saved it. The universe is telling you something.

That's what my ex-wife said. I stranded her in a Canadian wasteland and spent the joint account on cocktail sticks.
