We're looking for people with some Unix skills and the ability to read/learn/put time in to become future minds admins. If it goes well you will have responsibility of running the three minds boxes. It's a good way to learn more about how a system like minds works.
If you are interested mail: firstname.lastname@example.org with your minds username. We can then come up with more concrete plans about a room/time/whatever
At our recent AGM the Minds society elected a new Committee for the year 2005-2006. This committee is headed by Stephen Lacy and Caoimhe O Connor. Congratulations go to both of them.
The most positive aspect of this is that for the first time in 5 years the Minds committee consists entirely of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students, which ensures that Minds will be in safe hands for years to come.
Thanks to the Minds user ektich, Minds users can log in from anywhere on campus without a need to use the proxy. The proxy set up was a hack orchestrated by philb which served us well for this year. From today onwards, Minds users can simply use putty to connect to login.minds.may.ie. See the guide in the help section for information.
There will be some downtime this Friday afternoon, as Minds will be moving to a more suitable, and hopefully more permanent home. We expect that the move should not cause any problems, we will update if the situation changes.
Minds President Vishal has written a short piece of perl to keep a barchart of our login statistics. It displays all users which
have logged in during the month, and the chart shows how many seconds they were connected to the Minds System. For information on how to connect to the Minds system, see our Help Section.
